Last weekend was a life experience for me--attending my cousin David's birthday party, and going to "church."

"Church" was the Church of the American Spirit--better known as the Woody Guthrie Museum. It showcases the life and legacy of the Oklahoman who almost single-handedly gave folk, country and Americana music the roots they needed for the growth into what they are today. He elevated hard-working farmers to the status they deserve. In the process, he brought us together as Americans. What's better than that? Some call him the first multi-media star--artist, musician and author. It was a spiritual experience.
