How Did I...?
Well--I've lived in and been to more places than most folks I know...at last count:
140 different airports worldwide--2.5 million air miles--13 houses in 11 different cities before I was 18... It's a good thing I was paying attention, or I wouldn't have had much to tell you about, including...
- Being a three-time winner for my songs at the Walnut Valley Festival, Winfield, Kansas
- Recipient of the Key to the City of Lincoln, NE, for my contributions to acoustic music
I'm a willing prisoner of an active imagination, too. Most of my stories are true, but some of them get away from me a little bit...
Through it all, I've been able to fill up notebooks with thoughts and memories--a lot like yours, I'll bet. Those memories account for over 100 original songs, and hundreds more in various stages of completion. So for the rest of what's left, I'm just a guy with lots to do, singing you my stories before I snap the locks on my guitar case for the last time. Lord willin', that'll be awhile...
I've played for audiences as small as one and as large as 800, and I've come to know that the show isn't ever on the stage--it's always with the people I play for. Whether they're laughing loud, blinking back tears, or just singing along, then I'm making a difference, and that's my mission.
